Managing Time Being a Student
Time is the most precious thing for a student. They should know the skills to manage and utilize their time effectively in order to achieve their goals. Most of the students find it very difficult to manage the time for studies and other activities. To solve this problem, I am going to provide you some interesting and useful tips. Following these instructions will help you a lot in time management.
- Students have a lot of activities to do including studies, extra-curricular activities, playing games and reading books etc. So it becomes difficult to manage all these activities by keeping in mind that there should not be wastage of time at all. Therefore students need a proper system to know about their responsibilities and targets. For making it possible, they can use calendar, PDA or a weekly planner. But in my opinion weekly planner will prove better for students. Moreover, there is no need to purchase or make a weekly planner as free templates of weekly planner are available on internet. You can use them by making minor modifications according to your needs and choice. Some students find it better to use a time chart.
- Whenever you have to complete your target within a specific time period, you should note it on a calendar. All other activities and schedules can also be recorded in that chart. By doing this, you will be able to know how much time you can give to each task.
- You will also need proper planning before doing anything. It is quite wrong to take a book and start studying. You should plan first that how much of time you have, to complete an assignment. Mark it on your calendar or planner. Also make sure that for each assignment, you have planned some extra time in case the assignment doesn’t complete at time. In other words, the schedule should be flexible.
- While making a schedule, keep some extra time for study breaks also. If you will not take a brake during your tough and hectic schedule, you will become tired before completing all the tasks and your efficiency would be reduced.
- You may also need to prioritize your work if the task list is too long. You should give priority to each task on the basis of the significance of each task. For example, if doing math’s practice is more important than studying history, then you should give more time for doing math and allot less time to study history. But also make sure that you have enough time to study history too. I hope that this simple example is good enough for you to understand the importance of prioritizing your obligations and other activities.
- You should avoid the wastage of time. There are a lot of activities that can distract your attention from your work like computer games, messaging and video games. Avoid such kind of activities during your study time. Rather you can fix separate time for your other activities and hobbies.
- You will need to manage your time by yourself as in the higher classes there will be nobody to make your schedule. It will be entirely your responsibility to manage your time.
These were some tips for students about time management. Hopefully they will prove very beneficial and valuable for you.
